| | M'affirmer contre Ziad est l'obsession de mon premier séjour (2003), et en fait de toutes ces premières années jusqu'à ma conversion en 2007. Celui dont j'ai fait le principal interlocuteur de ma recherche, menace d'effondrement ma subjectivité par son existence-même : le fait qu'il réponde, qu'il ne souscrive pas activement à mes analyses, ni ne se laisse enfermer dans ma description. En fait l'ensemble de mes « matériaux », que je rassemble dans cette phase, sont construits contre lui. |

Je me débats avec ce constat en m'appuyant essentiellement sur ma directrice et les auteurs des sciences sociales. | | Jusqu'à ce que Nabil décède dans un accident de voiture, et que Ziad tire sa révérence le jour de l'incendie ([[fr:comprendre:moments:#août 2007]]). À partir de là, je n'ai plus de raison de ne pas me convertir, puisque plus personne ne s'oppose à moi intellectuellement. Les années suivantes, je me place sous le patronage de Yazîd d'une part, de la communauté musulmane d'autre part, et je me donne pour mission de réhabiliter Ziad en faisant connaître notre histoire.
